Virginia Army National Guard command selections announced

FORT PICKETT, Va. — The following Virginia Army National Guard officers have been selected for command, according to a July 18, 2018, release from the Virginia Army National Guard personnel office:

– Lt. Col. Kurt Kobernik will command the Fort PIckett-based Virginia Army National Guard Recruting and Retention Battalion
– Maj. Lyndsey Hodgkins will command the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team
– Maj. Brett Gibson will command the Fort Pickett-based 1st Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute
– Maj. Monty Lowe will command the Fort Pickett-based 2nd Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute
– Lt. Col. James Shaver will command the Fort Pickett-based 3rd Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute
– Maj. Kim Wynn will command the Fort Pickett-based Officer Candidate School, 3rd Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute
– Maj. James Sheldon will command the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, 29th Infantry Division
– Maj. John Roche will command the Fort Belvoir-based Headquarters Battalion, 29th Infantry Division
– Maj. Robert Mason will command the Fredericksburg-based 229th Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
– Lt. Col. Charles Reinhold will command the Norfolk-based 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
– Lt. Col. James Tierney will command the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
– Maj. Brian Gallavan will command the Portsmouth-based 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
– Lt. Col. Robert Leseman will command the Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
– Maj. Edwin Bochtler will command the Danville-based 429th Brigade Support Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
– Lt. Col. Juanita Rohler will command the Virginia Beach-based 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group
– Maj. Alyssa Astphan will command the Gate City-based 1030th Transportation Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group
– Capt. Melissa Canada will command the Fort Pickett-based Headquarters Detachment, Joint Force Headquarters – Virginia
– Capt. Latonya Martin will command the Maneuver Training Center Fort Pickett Headquarters Deatchment

Effective dates for the new assignments will based on unit schedules and operational requirements.
