Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, together with leadership from the 192nd Fighter Wing, 203rd RED HORSE Squadron, 200th Weather Flight and Joint Force Headquarters delivered the “State of the State” brief to Lt. Gen. Harry M. Wyatt, III, Director of the Air National Guard, and his Air Staff leadership team May 16 and 17. The main objective of the two-day event is communication between organizations. Specifically, topics of discussion included: accomplishments, significant issues, areas where assistance may be needed from the National Guard Bureau and mitigation plans. Air National Guard’s 121st Weather Flight conducted joint training at Fort A. P. Hill from March 8 to 11 with a focus on operations in a tactical field environment. The mission sets for the 121st in recent years had them operating in a more garrison-like environment, so the Airmen of the 200th shared some of their experience operating in a tactical environment. “This was an opportunity for us to refocus on our ‘going to the woods’ mission,” explained Chief Master Sgt. Posted on February 24, 2012 | No CommentsSAVANNAH, Ga. — Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen provided weather forecasting and fixed wing and rotary aviation support for Global Guardian 2012, a joint Army and Air Force exercise held at the Georgia National Guard Combat Readiness Training Center in Savannah. More than 1,300 personnel from 20 different states including flying units, medical units and support units as well as members of the Royal Netherland Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force participated in the exercise that began Feb. 13 and concludes Feb. 24.
