Manchester High School roads to be named for fallen Soldiers

CHESTERFIELD, Va. — Chesterfield County government and school officials will name two roads at Manchester High School in honor of fallen Staff Sgt. Darryl Demetrial Booker and Sgt. Forrest Dane Cauthorn at a ceremony scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Manchester High School at 12601 Bailey Bridge Road in Midlothian, Virginia.

The ceremony will mark the official naming of the roads to Darryl Booker Way and Dane Cauthorn Way, to honor the two heroes who both attended Manchester High School.

Staff Sgt. Booker, 37, died in Iraq’s Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad, on Jan. 20, 2007, when the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter he was in was shot down. They were supporting Operation Iraq Freedom at the time of they were shot down. Booker was assigned to the 29th Infantry Division, Virginia Army National Guard.

Sgt. Cauthorn, 22, died in Iraq on April 5, 2007, during Operation Iraq Freedom. He died in Hawijah of wounds suffered when his unit encountered enemy forces using small arms and grenades. Cauthorn was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.
