Va. Army Guard 2016 battalion command selections announced

SANDSTON, Va. — Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Brig. Gen. Walter L. Mercer, Virginia National Guard Assistant Adjutant General – Army, announced April 20, 2016, the following officers have been selected for battalion command in the Virginia Army National Guard:

– Lt. Col. Richard Snowdall will succeed Lt. Col. Lesley Kipling as the commander of the Fairfax-based Data Processing Unit.

– Maj. Christopher Dunn will succeed Lt. Col. Colin Noyes as the commander of the Petersburg-based 276th Engineer Battalion, 91st Troop Command.

– Lt. Col. Stephan Ruppel-Lee will succeed Lt. Col. Rusty McGuire as the commander of the Portsmouth-based 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

– Lt. Col. Samuel Donnelly will succeed Lt. Col. Kurt Kobernik as the commander of the Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

– Lt. Col. Christopher Guillory will succeed Lt. Col. Jeffrey Cree as commander of the Danville-based 429th Brigade Support Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

– Lt. Col. Timothy Pillion will succeed Lt. Col. Elena Scarbrough as commander of the Camp Pendleton Collective Training Center.

Effective dates for change of command will be announced when they are finalized.
