2014 National Guard Family Program Volunteer Awards nomination period is now open

vaguardlogoSANDSTON, Va. — The 2014 National Guard Family Program Volunteer Awards nomination period is now open, and this is the perfect time to recognize all the outstanding work your volunteers have done for you all year. Their dedication and commitment to helping service members and their Families is truly priceless. Nominations will be submitted no later than January 31, 2014.

Please refer to the 2014 Volunteer Awards Program Packet found on the Volunteer Webpage link below before submitting the electronic nomination form. The nomination questions and additional information are listed in the Awards Packet. We recommend that you first write and save the answers to narrative questions in a word-processing document and “copy-and-paste” them into each answer field.

The Categories for the Volunteer Awards are:

  • Guard Family of the Year Award – Presented to one Army Guard and one Air Guard Family* that shows outstanding and exceptional service to the Family Program.
  • Regional Volunteer of the Year Award – Presented to one adult volunteer from each of the ten (10) regions who shows outstanding and exceptional service to the Family Program.
  • Extra Mile Award – Presented to one Army Guard and one Air Guard retiree who distinguishes themselves with outstanding and exceptional service to the Family Program by continuing to serve the National Guard through their volunteer efforts.
  • Family Program Community Purple Award ‐ Presented to a community group or organization that best exemplifies the true meaning of the “purple” concept within the Joint Family Program by working with both Army and/or Air Guard activities.
  • The Gold Award – Presented to a person showing long‐term, consistent, and dedicated support to volunteering with the Family Program and within their community.
  • Youth Volunteer Award – Presented to a National Guard military youth (15-17 years old) who exhibits exemplary commitment to and support of the National Guard Family Program. Need to show school and community involvement.
  • Youth Development Volunteer Award – Presented to an adult who has made a significant impact in the development and support of the Youth Program.
